Chapter 44

• Holding the glass in one hand, Dahlia licked her lips and lifted her head to meet Luther's gaze. "You and I both know that Mr. Brandon doesn't deserve to hold the title of Beta, or any position of power for that matter. He's nothing more than scum, Luther—he's the worst kind of garbage, and once the truth comes to light, he's going to end up in the landfill of public opinion," she stated emphatically.
• Luther raised his martini in agreement. "I couldn't agree more," he replied, a smile lighting up his face as he clinked their glasses together. "Just make sure your mom stays safe while you're planning on dealing with Brandon." After clearing his throat, he added, "Of course!"
• After draining most of her drink, Dahlia set the glass down and reclined back on the bed. They had ended up in a beautiful, warm city, filled with beaches, clubs, and countless parties that she was impatient to attend and enjoy to the fullest. A brief silence hung between them before Luther reached out, nearly making contact with her leg.
