• I felt Melody freeze in my hands, losing the sound of her heartbeat for a few seconds. Then the pulse resumed, penetrating my ears as I felt her heart thumb loudly and violently against my body. "Babe." I gently called, accessing her thoughts, when suddenly everything went dark and then blank in her head. She pulled away, lifted her face, looked at me, then burst out laughing, startling me.
