• My chest constricted as I watched Draven walk away, his shoulders slumped and his gaze cast down. The sound of the door closing with a bang pulled me back to bitter reality. I had hurt him in front of his own mother and my mother. I had undermined our bond without a care, disregarding his love for me and his alpha position. But for my plan to work, it had to be done. I needed to make him angry and create tension between us so I'd have a reason to raise a barrier between our bond.
• "As the luna, you just want to do what's good for the pack," his mother said, placing her hand on my shoulder as a tear passed past my eyelid, "but don't let it come between you and your bond," she finished, busing herself with the dishes.
