Chapter 85

• "Melody!" I screamed her name, shaking her when she went slack in my arms. I carried her out of the shower, tore off the wet nightdress from her and with the use of one hand dried her up. I quickly placed her on the bed, the agonizing feeling in my heart turning to a darkness of some sort when she still didn't respond. Wrapping her head with a towel I held her against me as I leaned on the head board, covering her body with the comforter.
• "Her mind just shut down when she couldn't handle the pain any longer," my wolf relayed, a detectable worry in my mind. I held her tightly, humming a soft tune, begging her to wake up. I knew she would after some time, but I wasn't sure I could wait. So I did the only thing that came to my mind, using my magic. I chanted, charging her body with my energy as I squeezed her, warming her up.
• "Draven?" she whispered, drawing a smile from me when she awoke seconds later.
