Chapter 11 Wealthy Families Are Treacherous

  • “Where's Claudio?” Dominic asked Benson. His face clouded over.
  • “Sir, I haven't been able to reach Mr. Claudio.”
  • “That b*stard!”
  • Just then, a Rolls-Royce Ghost stopped in the front yard. The man who got out of the car looked cold and had a tall and slender figure. He closed the car door and walked into the living room.
  • Dominic glanced at the man who had just returned. But before he had the chance to speak, Aryana got up with a smile and said, “Just look at you. You were with Roselle the entire night, but you didn't come back with her this morning. What are you trying to hide by coming back here after her? Are you afraid that we will pick on Roselle?”
  • Claudio glanced at Roselle, then looked at Annalise, who was sitting in the living room calmly as if none of this had anything to do with her.
  • Yet little did he know that Annalise was secretly scoffing at the situation.
  • What they say about wealthy families being treacherous and immoral is true. It has only been two days and I already have a love rival. The same goes for Aryana. She simply has no morals. Everything is a mess here!
  • Dominic's face was as black as thunder. He instructed Benson, “Benson, see our guest out. It's the first day of Claudio's marriage. The new couple needs to pay respects to their mother. It isn't convenient for guests to be present.”
  • “It's fine. I'll see myself out,” Roselle said.
  • “But Dad, Roselle isn't an outsider. She's—”
  • “Why? Do you want to leave too?” Dominic glared at Aryana. “If you wish to leave, no one is stopping you. Benson, see our guest out!”
  • “Yes, Sir.”
  • The butler walked up to Roselle and showed her out the door. “Ms. Tallinger, this way, please.”
  • Aryana was stunned by Dominic's threat. Knowing that Dominic had a temper and that there was a possibility that he would chase her out of the house, she didn't dare to stop Roselle from leaving and could only watch as the butler sent her out.
  • Roselle had hoped that Claudio would ask her to stay, but seeing that he remained silent, she left in disappointment.
  • Annalise went upstairs with Claudio to get dressed. As she was about to pay respects to her mother-in-law, she had to be appropriately dressed.
  • When they were alone again, Annalise reminded herself, An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. He will get what he deserves if he messes with me.
  • “Your presence makes the air smell bad.”
  • “I'm still on Earth. How about you move to another planet? Lest you choke to death from the stench,” Annalise retorted.
  • This was the first time that she had bared her teeth in front of the Jundts. She wasn't one to take things lying down.
  • Claudio looked at her and said, “Annalise, I really don't want to see you.”
  • “You can choose to donate your retina, and I swear you wouldn't need to see me ever again.”
  • Girls with sharp tongues were not particularly likable.
  • Instead of pinning the blame on herself, Annalise advised Claudio to change his ways.
  • Since Claudio wasn't fond of her, and neither was she fond of him, she saw no reason for her to put up with him.
  • If she didn't get back at the Jundts now, things would only be more miserable for her in the future.
  • Claudio scoffed, “So this is how you're really like.”
  • “No. This is just an act. You're not worthy of seeing who I truly am.”
  • Annalise looked straight into Claudio's eyes as she spoke.
  • It was obvious that she had angered him, but he still wore a smile on his face, sending a shiver down her spine.
  • “Very well. I'm not worthy, then,” he responded coolly.
  • Annalise shuddered at his words. She was rather frightened by his expression.
  • Nevertheless, she tried not to show a single trace of fear on her face.
  • At this moment, the housekeeper knocked on the door and reminded them to hurry up.
  • It was only then that Annalise quickly retracted her gaze. The more she looked at him, the more she was afraid that she would expose her fear.
  • However, Claudio was best at reading others, and he had seen through Annalise's front.
  • “You're acting skills are just average.” He chuckled.
  • “It's good enough as long as I get my point across.”
