Chapter 12 The Decision Of The Guiver Family

  • Annalise changed into a set of formal attire.
  • Once she was done paying respects to her mother-in-law and returned to the bedroom, she suddenly thought of something and called out to Claudio, “Hey, we need to talk.”
  • “What? Did your dad ask you to talk to me so soon?”
  • “My dad?” Annalise asked in confusion. “What's the matter?”
  • Claudio was perplexed by her response. Did Mr. Guiver not tell her to ask me about the materials?
  • “What do you want to talk to me about?” He immediately changed the topic.
  • “Two things. First, we have to act normal when we go back to my house. Don't let my parents find out that we hate each other. I don't want them to worry about me. If they knew what I have been through for the past two days, they'll definitely ask us to get a divorce, and this would be against your father's wishes. I don't know how your father threatened you to marry me, but if my parents want us to file for a divorce, I doubt you'll have it easy.
  • “Second, I want to move out. I can't get along with Aryana. Me staying here will only make things worse. After we move out, even if you get caught engaging in prostitution, rest assured that as your wife, I will get you out. Besides, if we move out, we don't have to care about each other. Even if you want to elope with Roselle, no one is going to stop you. If necessary, I'll cover it up for you. I think this is a win-win situation for both of us. What do you think?”
  • Claudio narrowed his eyes as he scrutinized her. “Annalise, what makes you think I would agree with you?”
  • “Because what I'm asking for doesn't harm you in any way. So, do you need some time to think about it?”
  • Claudio walked closer toward her, and Annalise took a few steps backward. “You can just say that you agree. Why are you walking up to me?” she asked.
  • “You're too short. You're not worthy of discussing terms with me.”
  • “I...” Annalise looked down at her legs, then looked up at the man in front of her. “You can just say that you don't like the idea. There's no need to get personal!”
  • It was the first time that Claudio had smiled genuinely in front of Annalise. It was as if winning her in an argument brought him joy.
  • A genuine smile could always make one feel happy. Realizing this, Claudio quickly retracted his smile and put on a cold look again.
  • He coughed and headed out the door with his coat.
  • “I hope you get a heat stroke for wearing a coat in the summer. Serves you right for saying that I'm short,” Annalise shouted petulantly from behind.
  • As he walked out the door, another smile formed on his face.
  • “Mr. Jundt, your father wishes to speak to you,” Benson stopped him right then.
  • “Tell him to save it,” Claudio, who was in a good mood, uttered.
  • He then strode out the door. When he got into his car, he was still in a very pleasant mood. He glanced at the black coat in his hand that he had planned on wearing and tossed it to the side.
  • When Dominic heard Claudio's exact response from Benson, he leaned back in his seat with rage. “That b*stard!”
  • There was nothing that Benson could do. Claudio had left the Jundt residence when he was thirteen and had been living in solitude. The relationship between Dominic and Claudio had also gradually become strained due to their differing views. Other than the fact that they were related by blood, they seemed more like strangers.
  • “That's just how Mr. Claudio is. No one can do anything about him.”
  • Claudio was used to being alone. He didn't need any concern from others, and neither did he need love from his family.
  • Perhaps he only saw these as his burdens.
  • Despite understanding this, Dominic was still furious. He wondered how his son had turned out to be who he was today. “I shouldn't have let him live on his own back then.”
  • “Sir, what happened back then isn't your fault.”
  • Once Claudio returned to his office, his assistant immediately asked, “Mr. Jundt, aren't you going on your honeymoon? What are you doing at work?”
  • “Did any of the Guivers contact you?” Claudio asked.
  • “No. Are you really planning to acquire their company?”
  • That's strange. Why hasn't anyone contacted me yet? By now, the Guivers should be asking us for materials. Without the materials, there would be no way for them to kick-start their projects.
  • “Did the Guivers use our company's name to purchase raw materials from other companies?”
  • The assistant shook his head in response. “Mr. Jundt, I know what you're trying to ask. This is also what I wanted to tell you. This might seem strange, but the Guivers had turned down all fifteen projects yesterday.”
  • Claudio was surprised.
  • “Did you find out the reason for this?”
  • “The Guivers didn't say much. Someone had tried to reach Mr. Guiver but was rejected by him.”
  • Claudio placed a finger on his lips. “What are the Guivers up to?”
