Chapter 10 Winning The First Round

  • Markus' nostrils flared up in anger. “Aryana, if I ever hear you say that again, you know the consequences!”
  • Aryana watched as Markus turned around and leave, her tears flowing down uncontrollably.
  • This is all Annalise's fault. If it wasn't for her, Markus wouldn't have lost his temper at me! Fine, then. I shall no longer hold myself back!
  • Meanwhile, a certain innocent girl was still waiting in the dining hall downstairs for her husband to return.
  • However, instead of Claudio, someone unexpected had shown up.
  • When Roselle arrived, Annalise looked at Dominic in confusion. Who is she?
  • Dominic's face fell. But on the account of the relationship between the two families, he couldn't turn a blind eye to Roselle.
  • He had no choice but to greet her, “Roselle, what brings you here? Please have a seat.”
  • Once Roselle entered, her attention was instantly drawn toward Annalise, who was seated beside Dominic.
  • She was the only unfamiliar face in the house, and at first glance, Roselle guessed that she was Claudio's wife.
  • Roselle forced out a smile as she sat on the couch. “I'm here to look for Aryana.”
  • “Oh, I see. Annalise, why don't you go up and call Aryana to come down?”
  • Dominic was someone who abided by his principles and had never let Roselle upstairs despite the close relationship between the two families. She was only allowed to roam about the first floor every time she visited.
  • To Dominic, only members of the Jundt family were allowed upstairs.
  • Every time he spoke, he would make his stance clear.
  • Getting Annalise to call Aryana down was an indication to Roselle that Annalise was part of the Jundt family.
  • Annalise understood Dominic's intentions. She got up and went along with Dominic as she said, “All right, Dad. I'll go up now.”
  • “Good.” Dominic was pleased to hear her call him dad. A grin of satisfaction appeared on his face.
  • He knew that Annalise had understood what he meant.
  • When Annalise went upstairs to get Aryana, Aryana's eyes were still red. Nonetheless, Annalise didn't point it out and simply said, “Aryana, Ms. Tallinger is looking for you.”
  • Instantly, Aryana's eyes lit up. A glint of hatred flashed across her eyes as she looked at Annalise.
  • “Oh, Roselle is here. She must be looking for Claudio. She's Claudio's—Oh, never mind. Claudio is already married now. I guess she has to let bygones be bygones.”
  • A sudden realization dawned upon Annalise when Aryana paused mid-sentence.
  • Now she knew that Roselle was Claudio's lover. The reason why Dominic had specifically asked her to go upstairs and get Aryana was to tell Roselle that she was Claudio's wife.
  • A serene smile formed on Annalise's face. She recalled how Aryana had humiliated her at the dining table that morning and decided to get back at her. With a wide grin, Annalise said, “I'm sure everyone has experienced an unforgettable past. It's just a pity that they're not meant to be together.”
  • With that, Annalise had won the first round.
  • Aryana walked past Annalise with a cold expression. Once she made her way downstairs, she asked Roselle intentionally, “Roselle, are you looking for Claudio? He hasn't been home since last night.”
  • Despite knowing that Dominic would be upset with her question, Aryana still did it, as she was determined to make Annalise look bad.
  • Understanding Aryana's intentions, Roselle stood up and said, “I know Claudio isn't home. We were at Yaleview Mansion last night.”
  • As soon as she finished speaking, the house fell so silent that one could even hear a pin drop.
  • She had been with the groom last night while the bride had been left alone in her room.
  • Everyone knew that Roselle was provoking Annalise. It didn't matter that Annalise was the one who married Claudio, as Roselle was the one who had spent the wedding night with him.
  • Regardless, Annalise seemed to be unfazed by her words. Dominic, however, was livid. Aryana ignored this and chuckled as she had gotten her way. “If the two of you were together last night, then why didn't you come back together?” she asked warmly as she held Roselle's hands.
  • Dominic did not know what happened last night, but there was no doubt that Roselle wanted everyone to know that she was the one who had spent the wedding night with Claudio.
