Chapter 6 Curious About The Secret

  • “Very well then. I'd like to see if the Guiver family will come crawling to us to seek help if they 'starve to death.'“
  • Claudio took out his phone and instructed his assistant, “Buy over Guiver Group.”
  • “Mr. Jundt, did you mean...”
  • “My in-laws' business,” said the man as he stared at Annalise.
  • She was so livid that she wanted to bash him up despite it being their wedding night.
  • Her breathing became erratic as she panicked and revealed her true colors. “Claudio Jundt, you're no effing king of the corporate world!”
  • “You...”
  • He did not expect her to resort to vulgarities.
  • In the gown that she had worn during the evening reception, Annalise ran out of the room and grabbed a random housekeeper, inquiring, “Where's Old Mr. Jundt?”
  • The latter was taken by surprise by her actions. “P-Probably in his bedroom.”
  • “Where's his bedroom then?” Annalise continued questioning.
  • The housekeeper pointed in a direction.
  • Just then, an elegant lady walked out from around a corner. Based on her age and clothing, Annalise could deduce that she was Claudio's sister-in-law and the mayor's wife, Aryana Wright.
  • Aryana said to the housekeeper, “You may leave first.”
  • Hence, the housekeeper nodded respectfully and moved backward to leave the scene.
  • Annalise stared at Aryana. She simply could not bring herself to consider the latter as her sister-in-law. After all, the woman before her was three years older than her mother.
  • Aryana walked forward and sized Annalise up. “Why are you looking for Dad?”
  • “He didn't keep his promise to me.”
  • The older woman then glanced at Claudio, who followed after Annalise. Darting a glance between the newly-wedded couple, she asked, “Why are you not in your room on your wedding night? Are you planning to cause a ruckus and attract everyone's attention?”
  • Her strict reprimand was directed at Annalise, but it was also aimed at Claudio.
  • “Aryana, this is none of your business!” said Claudio.
  • The woman's face turned grim at her brother-in-law's retort before stalking off furiously.
  • Annalise made her way in the direction that the housekeeper had pointed at.
  • Upon reaching the doorway of Dominic's bedroom, Annalise and Claudio saw Benson, the butler. “Mr. Jundt, Mrs. Jundt, shouldn't you be in your room at this hour? What brings you here?” Benson asked at the sight of them.
  • Annalise replied, “I want to see Old Mr. Jundt. He didn't keep his promise.”
  • “Old Mr. Jundt has gone to bed. You should wait till tomorrow to talk to him.”
  • Right at that moment, a voice sounded from inside the room. “Benson, let them wait in the study first.”
  • Five minutes later, Dominic appeared in his study with a coat draped over him. The newly wedded couple was seated on the couch.
  • Annalise's cheeks were puffed up from fury while Claudio scrutinized his angry wife with his eyes narrowed. Why did she come to look for my father as soon as she heard that I wanted to acquire the Guiver family's business?
  • “Why are you looking for me?”
  • Annalise stood up and walked toward Dominic. “Old Mr. Jundt, you promised me that the Jundt family would never lay a finger on my family.”
  • Hearing her words, he glanced at the man sitting calmly on the couch. He knew his son's temperament well, so he had an inkling of what had happened.
  • “You should leave the room first. I'll have a chat with Claudio.”
  • Annalise came all the way there and did not even manage to speak of other matters, yet he was asked to leave immediately.
  • She was not one who enjoyed annoying others, but the matter pertained to her family, and she did not want to make unnecessary sacrifices.
  • I've married into the Jundt family, yet my parents' company is to be acquired by Claudio. However, if I didn't marry into the Jundt family, my parents' company would still fall into bankruptcy.
  • “Old Mr. Jundt, if you can't fulfill what you promised, then neither can I keep my side of the bargain.”
  • “Get out!” Dominic was enraged.
  • Annalise clenched her fists and turned around to leave.
  • In the study, Dominic said to his second son, “Withdraw your order. You are not allowed to do anything to the Guiver family.”
  • “Dad, what on earth does she have on you?” asked Claudio.
  • Dominic responded, “Claudio Jundt, don't make me repeat myself. If I ever find out again that you lay a finger on the Guiver family... Don't say I didn't warn you.”
  • Claudio's interest was greatly piqued as he rarely saw his father being so serious with him. “I'm getting more and more curious. What secret do you have between the both of you?”
