Chapter 17 Call Out 1

  • Amelia Snyder
  • Brandon's voice was menacing. All the doctors dare not to speak another word.
  • "The sooner the patient undergoes the surgery, the greater the odds of recovery. We'll do it tomorrow," I said as I handed Brandon my business card. "Now that you have my contact information, you may inform me of the patient's condition at all times," I added.
  • We would get half the day off at school during homecoming. Half a day will suffice for the operation.
  • "In that case, what time will you come by? I can arrange transportation for you." Brandon said. "There's no need for that. I will come over myself." I rejected his offer.
  • "Alright, I'll be waiting for your arrival," Brandon said.
  • I returned home after everything was settled. I entered through the back door to avoid alerting my family.
  • After I took a shower, I could hear Angelica's voice from downstairs. "Mom, do you think something happened to Sis? It's getting late and she hasn't returned," she said.
  • "If she's not back by 10.30 pm, I'll let your dad know and we'll go look for her," Heather said.
  • I was amused by their conversation and made my way downstairs. "Are you all looking for me?" I asked.
  • Angelica was startled by my presence and asked, "Why are you here?"
  • Heather turned to me and asked, "Amelia, when did you return? I didn't see you earlier."
  • I rubbed my eyes and pretended to be exhausted. I said, "There was no one in the living room when I returned, so I just went to my room."
  • I yawned and added, "I'm feeling tired. It's been busy at school lately, isn't that right, Sis?"
  • Heather turned to Angelica excitedly and asked, "Both of you received your results yesterday, right? Angelica, how did you do? Did you manage to secure the first rank again?"
  • I sneered as Angelica had an awkward look on her face. "No, mom. I came in second. However, I'll be sure to get the first rank next time," Angelica said.
  • Heather caressed her head and said, "Angelica, as long as you give it your all, your ranking doesn't matter at all. You will always be my sweetheart."
  • I felt satirized as she did not care about my results or well-being, yet she cares deeply about Angelica who was adopted. However, I grew numb about it long ago.
  • "I'm going to bed," I said as I went upstairs to my room.
  • Homecoming will begin in the evening while the rehearsals will begin in the morning. I practically had the whole day to myself as I was not part of the performances.
  • After I left the house in the morning, I made a phone call. "Is the person that I asked for on the way?"
  • "Ms. Amelia, everything is as planned." My subordinate answered.
  • "Alright," I said and placed my phone back in the purse.
  • As I stood by the road waiting for a taxi, a black car rushed towards me at full speed!
