Chapter 14 Feeling aggrieved

  • Amelia Snyder
  • As I was chatting with Luna and Castor, we were interrupted by the sudden announcement made through the campus broadcast system. "Amelia Snyder from Class A, head over to my office with all your recent answer sheets immediately."
  • My classmates began gossiping as soon as they heard the announcement.
  • "I was right all along. Seems like they've found evidence of her cheating," a student said.
  • "Whoever cheats will get expelled from our school. It's great that we don't have to endure her presence anymore," another student added.
  • Luna and Castor looked at me with worried eyes.
  • "Don't worry about it. I'll be fine!" I reassured them. I glared at the others as I made my way to the office.
  • I'll prove all of you wrong.
  • When I arrived at the office with my answer sheets, Ms. Thornhill sneered and said, "You're done for. This is your last day at Sierra High School." I grinned in response. It was obvious to me that Angelica was dissatisfied with my results, so she stirred up a scene.
  • "Amelia, hand over your answer sheets." Mr. Odin insisted. "What are you planning to do?" I asked. "Quit acting foolish. Just admit that you've cheated on the tests. The evidence is right here!" Ms. Thornhill uttered.
  • Ms. Thornhill snatched my answer sheets and tossed them before me. She said, "Take a look for yourself. Your answers are seemingly identical to the answer schemes! You couldn't have done it without seeing it beforehand."
  • "That's the evidence that you were talking about? Ms. Thornhill, that doesn't prove anything." I sneered. Ms. Thornhill was provoked by my response. She pointed at me and asked, "In that case, how did you achieve these results?"
  • I did not answer her question. Instead, I turned to Mr.Odin and said, "Mr. Odin, Ms. Thornhill had always made things difficult for me, and now she's accusing me of cheating. If I proved my innocence, will she receive punishment?"
  • "If you can prove me wrong, I'll apologize to you for three days straight!" Ms. Thornhill insisted.
  • I smiled at Ms. Thornhill and said, "Give me a set of questions and I'll answer them on the spot."
  • "Alright, sounds like a plan." Mr. Odin agreed.
  • Ms. Thornhill handed me the question sheet and said, "If you can manage to score 130 marks and above, I'll receive my punishment stated earlier." I glanced over the questions and began answering them.
  • "Ms. Thornhill, you didn't go easy on her, right?" Angelica whispered.
  • "Of course not. These questions are one of the hardest. There's no way that she could answer them." Ms. Thornhill replied.
  • The time given to me was an hour, but I already completed the test in twenty minutes. I proceeded to take a nap on the table.
  • "Mr. Odin, take a look for yourself. That right there is a top student?" Ms. Thornhill said without hesitation. "Amelia, get up and resume your test." Mr. Flores gently knocked on my table.
  • I opened my eyes and said, "Pardon me, I already completed the test." Angelica and Ms. Thornhill sneered. "Quit fooling around. It's only been twenty minutes. Just admit that you couldn't answer the questions," Ms. Thornhill said.
  • I covered my ear and handed out my answer sheet impatiently. I said, "Well, have a look." Ms. Thornhill's expression stiffened up as she glanced over my answer sheet. Her hands were trembling as she marked the test.
  • The principal walked over and asked, "Well, what are the results?" Ms. Thornhill remained silent for a moment. "She scored exactly 131 marks. How is that possible?" She faltered. Angelica was flabbergasted as well.
  • Since I proved my innocence, there was no reason for me to linger around any longer. I stood up and walked towards Ms. Thornhill. "Keep in mind your punishment," I said as I made my way back to the classroom.
  • "Amelia, what happened back there?" Castor asked as soon as I returned. "You'll find out soon enough," I replied.
  • Ms. Thornhill and Angelica returned to the classroom not long after. Ms. Thornhill kept her head down in embarrassment. She said, "Everyone made massive improvements in their English tests once again. Therefore, I would like to apologize to a student from our class."
  • The students were dumbfounded. No one expected such an arrogant teacher to make a public apology.
  • Ms. Thornhill glanced over at me and continued, "Amelia scored very well this time. However, I accused her of cheating based on my subjective judgment. I hope everyone can learn from Amelia and achieve greater results."
  • "Ms. Thornhill, is that how you make an apology? You didn't even say sorry!" Castor uttered.
  • Ms. Thornhill hesitated for a while and said, "I'm sorry! Amelia, I'm certain that you can achieve greater results in the future."
