• The sun dipped low on the horizon as the evening began to settle over the coastal city. Alex was in high spirits; reconnecting with Sofie after so many years had been a joy. Their conversations flowed easily, and it was as if no time had passed since they last saw each other. As they talked, Alex realized how much he wanted Sofie to meet the people who mattered in his life—especially Natalie.
• “You know, Sofie,” Alex said as they strolled along the beach, “I’ve been thinking. I want to introduce you to some of my friends here. There’s one person in particular I think you’d really like—she’s the CEO of a cosmetics company.”
• Sofie tilted her head, intrigued. “A CEO? That’s impressive. What company?”
