Chapter 11 A Painful Departure

• Natalie walked into McCloud Mansion with a heavy heart, her thoughts still troubled by the chaotic scene at Daniel’s condo. The grandeur of the mansion felt oppressive as she made her way through the entrance, bracing herself for the inevitable confrontation with her grandfather and her cousins.
• As she entered the foyer, William McCloud stood at the top of the grand staircase. His face, usually a mask of calm authority, was now twisted with anger and disappointment. Mildred and Naomi flanked him, their expressions a mix of satisfaction and disdain.
• “Natalie,” William’s voice cut through the silence, sharp and accusing. “You have some explaining to do.”
