Chapter 22 Shadows In Europe

  • The rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor filled the dimly lit hospital room in a secluded European town. Daniel lay still, his body connected to various machines that monitored his vital signs. His face was peaceful, almost serene, but the bruises and scars from the attack were a stark reminder of the violence he had endured. It had been months since the accident, and despite the best medical care, he remained in a coma.
  • His parents, Richard and Margaret Carter, were sitting by his bedside, their faces etched with worry and exhaustion. Richard’s eyes were bloodshot from sleepless nights, while Margaret clutched Daniel’s hand, her expression a mix of hope and despair. The doctors had told them that Daniel’s condition was stable, but they couldn't predict when, or if, he would wake up.
  • “We can’t keep going like this, Richard,” Margaret whispered, her voice trembling. “We need answers. We need to know who did this to our son.”
