Chapter 39 Amnesia

  • The hospital room was warm with the morning light streaming in through the window, casting a soft, almost comforting glow over Daniel's bed. Richard and Margaret Carter had hardly left his side since he had awakened, and today was no different. They sat close together, their hands intertwined, both relieved and deeply troubled by the events of the last 24 hours.
  • It was still hard for them to believe—Daniel was awake after all these months in a coma, but something was terribly wrong. The hopeful glimmer in Margaret's eyes had dimmed, and Richard's usually calm demeanor was fraying at the edges.
  • The door to Daniel's room creaked open, and in walked Anna, Richard's sister, followed by a few other close relatives who had come as soon as they heard the news. Their faces lit up at the sight of Daniel awake, sitting up in his bed, his eyes open and alert.
