• When Cilla settled into bed next to me, I felt tempted to reach over and pull her close but was somehow able to resist the temptation. I was tired of fixing things. If she wanted the silent treatment, I would give it to her. After all, she was the one who barely showed any happiness after knowing that I was back home. I was beginning to think that she wanted me gone. But hell, that was my pack. There was no way I would abandon it for long. If she didn’t want to see my face, she could leave. I could survive without her, after all.
• Before she came into the room, I had been about to sleep but now that she was lying right next to me, it was almost impossible to get any sleep, especially since a certain part of my body had decided not to listen to the rational thoughts coming from my mind. It wanted what it wanted and not even my stubbornness was going to stop it. I decided to wait it out since I didn’t want to cave and be the one to make the first move. I was pretty sure Cilla wasn’t doing any better in the sleep department because she kept tossing and turning.
