Chapter 334

  • Silent until we were on our way home, Mr. Adler remained quiet. I wanted to speak to him several times, but every time I turned my head, I saw him with his eyes closed, resting. So I didn't bother him anymore.
  • I was driving, and as we passed by a large supermarket, I suddenly had a craving for steak. So I spoke up, "How about we go to the supermarket and take a look? We can buy a piece of steak and fry it as a late-night snack." I smiled at him, trying to please him. His mood was at its lowest point, and they say that a smile can brighten someone's mood. If I could smile at him, maybe his mood would improve a little.
  • Mr. Adler slowly lifted his eyelids and looked at me with a hint of laziness in his voice. "Why go through all that trouble? I'll have Colter arrange for some Australian steaks to be air-shipped here. The steaks in the supermarket are not fresh, there's nothing delicious about them." He remained leaning against the back of the seat, showing no intention of getting up.
