• The chains around my wrists felt heavier than they had yesterday or was it today? Time blurred in this miserable place. My body ached, my head throbbed, and every breath felt like a battle against despair. But I couldn’t afford to give up. My children were here, somewhere in this hellish place, and they needed me.
• I pressed my back against the cold stone wall and closed my eyes, focusing all my energy on the sliver of hope that I might reach them.
