Chapter 73 Broken Alliance

  • Willow's POV
  • The weight of my return to the city settled over me like a heavy fog. It was strange, how quickly life resumed its normal rhythm. I went back to my office, to the projects, the endless emails, the phone calls, and the constant shuffle of paperwork. It was almost like I’d never left, like the trip to Crescent Moon Pack had been a distant dream. But in my heart, I knew it wasn’t. The triplets, the intensity, the connection, those feelings were real. But now, they felt like a burden I wasn’t ready to carry. So, I buried myself in work.
  • Jason had returned to the city as well. I hadn’t seen him, hadn’t heard from him, and I didn’t care to. Ruby was the one who mentioned his arrival to me but I had not said anything. He had gone from someone I had once called a friend to someone whose presence I dreaded. The way he’d confessed his feelings, his possessiveness, the way he’d been around me like a shadow, it all made my skin crawl. I didn’t want to be mean, but I had no room for that kind of energy in my life. I had suffered as someone without control over her life until eight years ago and having anything to do with Jason seemed like I was going to be trading my freedom for that. And I also had no feelings for him, at least nothing romantic.
