Chapter 69 Sixty Nine

• After lunch, I picked up an umbrella, a raincoat, and high boots before heading out the door. It was raining cats and dogs outside. The melancholic wet weather suited my gloomy mood. Everything felt so wrong. It was as if I was about to cheat on Desmond. He had reluctantly permitted me to see Mason and continue a friendship with him.
• The guy I met at the carnival could be right. Allowing people to meddle in my relationship was the root cause of our troubles. If I hadn’t discovered that Desmond had blocked Mason from my phone and that the second-degree burn on Mason’s arm wasn’t an accident, I wouldn’t have continued with the tests.
• I strode across the puddle. Mason’s house was only a few feet ahead. I remembered the path to his house as the most joyous stroll of my life. Now, it felt like a burden. Desmond had changed every aspect of my life. Only time could tell if it was for the better or worse.
