Chapter 34 Crossroads

And then, like a miracle, the procession of footsteps passed by her without noticing her presence. Serenity let out the breath she didn’t even realize she was holding and allowed herself a brief moment of relief. But she knew she couldn’t linger.
Serenity moved forward, aware that danger still loomed around her. As she neared the corridor leading to her room, she felt a cold hand cover her mouth and yank her forcefully against the wall. Her heart pounded like a wild drum as a hissing whisper echoed in her ear.
“Do exactly as I say,” the unknown voice commanded.
