Chapter 21
- A kiss that left Sofia stunned, yet it stirred her entire being. It was as if time had stopped in that instant and all the memories hit her like a slap. She remembered the times she cried profusely when her mother passed away; he was there, comforting her heart, but not in the way she truly needed. The snubs, the loneliness, the low priority, and the times he made love to her did not make her feel whole or satisfied. But unfortunately, in the worst moments, he was there. She couldn't even push him away, she couldn't even reciprocate the kiss. Her lips felt cold and her heart was beating hard, not from excitement, but with beats that were screams of pain because he was hurting her even more. He stops kissing her and looks into her eyes, hoping for a favorable response, but what Sofia does is take a step back and look at him with pain. Without another word, with an afflicted heart, she opens the door.
- "My love..." she hears him say, and she shakes her head, then enters the apartment and closes the door.
- "Oh, friend..." Maggie stammers as she sees her sad. She heard everything and has no intention of scolding her. She too once loved and knows how difficult it is to let go of what once connected you to that person. She hugs her tightly. "We have to talk, this is delicate."
