• Janet stood silently in front of the washbasin, wrapped in a towel, after taking a hot shower. The peacefulness of her surroundings mirrored the sense of resolution she felt within herself. All she could hear was the steady rhythm of her own heartbeat echoing in her ears. Though she didn’t even want to see Sebastian, she felt a pang in her chest when he declared it would be their last meeting.
• His black eyes, filled with brewing anger, had the ability to strip away all the resentment she felt towards him. All she yearned for was to embrace him tightly and admit that the baby was a stillbirth, not intentionally aborted. She would never harm their child.
