• Janet raised an eyebrow as Connor’s deep voice echoed through the empty house. She gave him a puzzled look. “What?”
• “When I last visited you, you were in college aspiring to become an actress. From the smallest flies to the sound of someone shouting, my delicate daughter was frightened by almost everything. She has changed so much, I don’t know her anymore.” Connor stepped forward.
• “Aren’t you asking this question too late? Three years! For three years, you didn’t bother to check if we were alive or dead.” Tears brimmed in her eyes. “We called you like crazy!”
