Chapter 4 RECOVERY

• Today I'm going to learn to walk but I have to take it slow and not push myself. Mom and dad are getting along very well. I'm glad to have him back in our life even though Sean is happy I think deep down he's scared dad will leave again.
• I can't wait to go to the park and work as hard as I can. I want to prove I can walk again. Chance how you are doing? I'm good and excited about today? Yes, I can't wait to walk again. That’s good, I'm happy you're willing to try. Jake, have you ever done this before? Yes, I work with handicapped kids.
• That's cool. I work with Sean and he owns his own business. We work with special needs children. I love it there and the kids love me there. That's awesome sweetie. I smiled at Jake and wheeled myself back to my mom and dad. Mom, can we start yet? We are waiting for Chance and May.
• Okay, mom, how long are they going to be? It looks like it's going to rain. It doesn't? If they don't come in a couple of minutes we start without them. I guess we can start without them. • I'm so proud of myself. Mom and dad are cheering me on like everyone else.They gave me hope and the boost to push myself to walk to my friends and family. Mom, dad, and Sean, I did it and I made it to the finish line by myself. I'm so proud of you baby girl.
• I knew you can do it now.We keep working those legs and you are back walking in no time. Yeah, I miss playing sports and playing with the kids at work. I know kiddo, maybe you can surprise the kids by walking by yourself? That's an awesome idea.
• We are going to do this every day until you can take stronger steps and then run circles around everyone again. Lol, that would be great. Okay let's take a break and head home, okay I'm hungry mom, Okay sweetie, let's go home and get you in the bath and then dinner? Deal.
• After we ate dinner we all went to bed. I can't wait to walk again. I woke up early before everyone because I saw the hurt in Hope's eyes. She was wanting Chance and May to come and see her try to walk again but they didn't show. I decided to go to May’s house and talk to her. I knocked on the all I can hear is moaning but what’s fucked up is May is married why is she fucking chance?
• Finally, someone opened the door. Took yall long enough. What do you want Jamie? You both know why I'm here and I'm going to tell you both right now. There was a girl that was waiting for both of you to cheer her on yesterday when she took her first steps. What hurt her more than anything was that the two she was waiting for weren't there for her.

But the world goes on. We all went to the park and Hope was so happy to see her friends and family but two faces were traded with her and didn't show for the first time. I keep thinking positive and keep being strong because I know I can do this. I know I can one day walk again. I won’t let anyone ruin this for me again. I feel lonely sometimes. I get jealous because everyone around me can walk but I can't. Oh sis I know hopefully you will be walking again don't give up hope we know you can do this we know it’s hard for you not to do what you love and dreamed of playing pro soccer.

• Okay sweetie alright, son. I went downstairs to wait for mom and dad. I'm scared I can't lose my twin sister. Soon mom and dad walked into the living room where I was waiting for them. Okay, what's going on? Me and Hope were talking about how she's not doing so well mom.
• She can't walk and she can't do the things she loves. Hope told me she gets jealous sometimes because everyone around her can walk but she can't. She's starting to give up mom. I can't lose my twin sister. She's my world. Please tell that doctor to give her some good news or hope that she can walk again or so help me god I will kill Jake’s son.
• I can’t keep seeing her go through this pain. She was going to be a pro soccer player and it got taken away from her like nothing. I will deal with Jake's son, no I made a promise to hope to make him feel the pain that she has to go through because of what he did to her. He plays soccer as well and he will not make it to the pros.
• I have to go tell Jake I'm on my way and to hand over his son so that I will explain why and what happened. Hey, Jake Sean is on his way to hand over your son to sean. • Later, I hung up the phone. Jake said he will hand him over and that he already permitted you to do what you have to do for your sister.
