Chapter 8 NEW BEGINNINGS

  • Today I'm well rested and my ankle is better now. I went to practice on my kicks and goal shots, so I'm ready for my first big game next week in New York. My mom doesn't like some of the games that I understand. After all, I was in a wheelchair.
  • I understand that she is scared that I might get hurt again, but we have to be positive about this because I'm living my life doing what I love to do, and I'm not alone, I have my best friends with me for my journey. I get ready for my morning run.
  • Furthermore, I do my stretches and I turn on my iPod and grab my water. Likewise, I got everything I needed. Now I start running 3miles and come back home shower and eat breakfast with everyone.
  • Good morning everyone, good morning sis. How was your run? It was good, there's a nice breeze today. That's good to hear. When's the big game? Next week. We play against a team from the UK.
  • Nice sis I'm proud of you. Well I have to go to work. Hell yeah I have to see my kiddos. Lol them kids love you so much. I know they are my hope. We got in the car to head to work. When I walked in on the unit I was greeted with all smiles and hugs.
  • Hello everyone. Hi hope!! How is everyone today? Good!! I'm happy to hear that. Bro what do you say about a field trip to my game next week I need my angel's? I will see what their doctors say.
  • You hear that guy's you have to be very good, so everyone can come to my game next week, okay? Everyone said yes with big smiles. Okay everyone I have to go to practice. I will be back later and be good.
  • Bye hope. Later bro love you're heading to practice. Okay sis love you I let you know what the doctors say. I wave and nod heading out the door. Hey everyone. Hi hope. What are we doing today? We are working on our kicks and goal shots. Sweet, when do we start? We can now but some members are not here yet.
  • Okay I do my laps then. Okay girly. As we waited for everyone to get here I put my iPod on and started my laps. Slowly everyone was coming, but they were super late, and I'm ready to go home and take a nice hot shower.
  • Okay girl you all did good today. Please for the love of God be on time tomorrow. We all said yes ma'am and went home. On my way home I heard someone calling my name.
  • HOPE! I looked to find out it was Chance.
  • Hey chance, how are you doing? I'm grateful. Hey, I wanted to ask if your dad is home? I don't know on my way home now from practice. You can walk with me if you want to? Okay, thanks.
  • We walk into the house Mom, Dad I'm home! We are in the living room. Come chance. Hey mom and dad. Hey, how was practice today? Awesome as always, oh mom and dad chance is here too.
  • Okay bunny. Hey, how are you doing ? I'm not sure. What's the matter? Jake has been acting weird and not talking to me. Have you heard from him? No but I can call him and check on him while you're here? Please do thank you.
  • Jamie grabs his phone to call Jake. Hello, hey Jake how are you doing man? Hey Jamie I'm okay, just been busy lately. We all worried about you bro what's going on? Man life my son and the shit he did. I can't wrap my head around it. Where did I go wrong? You didn't do anything wrong Jake. What your son did was his own choice.
  • I know I just wish he didn't do it. Jake how about you come over and someone wants to see you. Okay Jamie, I will be there in a minute. We waited for Jake to come and visit and see hope. We heard a knock on the door. Hey, hope to answer that please? Sure thing dad. I go and answer the door to his uncle Jake.
  • OMG you're walking. Yes sir and I made it to the pro soccer team. OMG I'm so happy for you baby. Hi Jamie and Heather thank you for having me. No problem bro. When and how? Hope has been working her ass off to walk again, and she finally did it.
  • Jake, what your son did to me wasn't your fault he took my legs but with support and faith I beat my downfall and followed my dreams. I'm so sorry what my son did and your right faith gets you where you want to be and hope.
  • Jake, what your son did to me made me stronger than ever. I'm alive and walking and living my dream, please don't blame yourself Jake. I forgave your son a while ago, I don't hold grudges, life is too short for that. We all learn from our mistakes.
  • It's just up to us to run from it or learn from it. I think he learned the hard way, but I forgive him, but I will never forget what he did to me.
  • He took something away from me that I never thought I would get back.
  • With the help and support of my family and friends I didn't give up for them. He took my confidence and my courage. I fought my ass off to get it all back and he will see that I don't stay down forever. I get back up and try again.
  • I never did anything wrong to deserve that pain. The jealousy because I couldn't walk I had to be in a fucking wheelchair and be told I never walk again and I proved them wrong that I can walk again and play soccer.
