Chapter 59 Back At The Castle

• After the guards escorted the warriors into the Queen's chambers, a messenger ran towards them and handed them a note saying they were wanted in the dungeon. The guards weren’t sure if they should leave the room unattended, but the letter said it was urgent and all of them were summoned. Looking at each other, they decided it should not take very long, and they left for the long walk down multiple stairs to the dungeon as ordered. When they walked into the dark stone room, shackles were hanging along with torture contraptions, but no one was there.
• The note that had summoned them to the dungeon was a ruse, a fact that became agonizingly clear the moment they stepped into the empty torture chamber. The heavy thud of the chamber door closing behind them echoed like a portent of doom. Realization dawned on them suddenly that – they had been lured away from their post, away from the Queen’s chamber.
• With a shared look of urgency, they bolted from the dungeon, their boots pounding against the cold stone steps as they ascended back to the Queen’s chambers. Their hearts raced not just from the exertion but from the anticipation of what they might find upon their return.
