Chapter 54 Buying Dresses

• Jed and Rachel jumped into his pickup truck and as he pulled away, he looked straight ahead on the dirt road and asked her if she knew what Leoma was going to do about the pregnancy. Rachel sighed and stared out of the window, the fields passing by in a blur. "I don't know," she said softly. "She's been so secretive lately. I think she's scared and doesn't know who to turn to." Rachel didn’t want to expose the truth that Leoma could be pregnant with an Alp baby, but it also could be Galinn’s.
• Jed tightened his grip on the steering wheel. "She needs to make a decision soon, I’m not stupid Rachel, I realize the Alp probably mated with her. I saw how she looked after she escaped." he said, his voice tense. "This can't go on forever. Have you tried talking to her?"
• Rachel shook her head. "Every time I bring it up, she shuts down. I think she feels ashamed, and I don't want to push her away."
