Chapter 52 Closing The Membrane
- Galinn, Kalisto and Alexis sprinted with all their might while Eckna flew but he was starting to slow down. Their breaths ragged and hearts pounding like war drums. Alexis looked back to Eckna, noticing his pace was slowing down. He had to slow his pace down which would get everyone killed or grab the little floating friend and carry him. So, he reached out and grabbed Eckna by the arm, pulling him against his chest, holding him tightly. Not saying a word to Eckna, for one he couldn’t, he didn’t have enough breath to talk after sprinting for his life. Eckna knew this and let Alexis carry him, although very uncomfortable.
- Eckna looked away from Alexios’s chest and said as loud as he could, “I can see it!” pointing towards an area straight ahead of them. A shimmering thinned membrane, barely visible yet pulsating with the promise of safety, the gateway to the human world.
- As they neared the membrane, and the howls of the Alp creatures intensified Everyone glanced back, their eyes meeting Eckna’s for a fleeting moment, a silent acknowledgment of the peril they faced. An army of Alp’s were running over the mountains toward them. The three warriors, sensing the urgency, tightened their grip on their guns, determined to return to Leoma and Rachel.
