• “Just come for the tour,” Kate said, her voice soft and encouraging. “You don’t have to decide anything right this second. It’s just to see what it’s like.”
• I looked at the three of them—Kate, Amelia, and Alice. They were all around my age, maybe a little older, and they seemed so comfortable with the idea of this. I never, in a million years, thought I would be sitting here, considering a job at a gentlemen’s club. My life has always been so structured: school, then work, then repeat. I’ve always been so focused on getting ahead that I never really had time for close friends, not since Lisa and I met. But just in the short time I’d been with these girls, I felt a connection. A good feeling.
