• The soft hum of conversation and clinking glasses filled the air, a clear difference to the storm brewing inside me. Four days. It had been four long days since I read Lisa's text, the one that had thrown my carefully constructed world into a tailspin.
• "I know you don't want to come home right now, and I get it," her message read. "I've been there too. But after running for so long, I'm finally going home because I'm getting married. I’d love for you to be at my engagement."
