• ALICIA POV
• My phone buzzed again. Another text from Carmen. He had been sending them every single day since I told him "no." He wanted me to come back home. He said he moved out of Harden's apartment and that we should stick together like we always had. I just... didn't want to. Not right now. I wanted to see what it was like to be on my own. I needed him to learn to be on his own, too.
• Last night, Dawn drove me back to my place. We didn't talk much on the ride. We were both lost in our own heads. He walked me to my door and then he asked, "Hey, ummm… does your friend still want to get married?"
