Chapter 54 Gianna

  • Mason sat alongside me on the sofa. I could see the concern in his gaze. I had no clue why this guy had taken a liking to me, nor why he seemed to care so damn much. I was a virtual stranger to him, but his caring was tying my stomach into knots. I didn't know whether to be touched by it or nervous about it. I knew he wanted to help me, and that was sweet, but his help came with complications I was certainly not ready for. And the moment Mason mentioned the werewolf council my heart began to race, and not for the good reasons it had been previously.
  • The things Dalton was involved in were far from legal, in either the human world or our own. But me knowing of his crimes, didn’t that make me as guilty as him? I had always been terrified that while living with him, he could be caught, and my knowledge of his crimes would be discovered, and he would drag me down with him. It didn't help that he had always threatened to create scenarios where I was more involved than I ever had been, making me seem guilty when my involvement only stretched as far as making coffee for him and his associates when meetings took place in our home. Dalton had known what he was doing in his attempts to keep me quiet. And he ensured I knew exactly the things he was capable of.
  • I felt Mason’s eyes flickering across my face, as he reached out to stroke my cheek. “Is there more that I need to know Gianna?” he questioned. I swallowed heavily. What did he want me to tell him? All the things I knew of that Dalton had been involved in? We could be here for a lifetime! He had been one to brag… intending to terrify me with tales of his offenses knowing they would shock me. Using them to display the horrific lows he could sink to. Showing that he had no morals and would do whatever he needed to make gains.
