Chapter 43 Dreams Unfold
- I woke up with an unusual smile tugging at my lips. Weird. Glancing to the side, I realized Zephyr wasn't in bed beside me. The sheets were cold, meaning he had left a while ago. A faint pang of disappointment settled in my chest, but I shook it off. To a new beginning, right?
- I sat up, wincing at the soreness that lingered in my muscles. The good kind of soreness, I reminded myself with a blush. Forcing myself to my feet, I padded across the cold floor and ran a bath. The hot water felt soothing against my skin, but even that couldn’t wash away the exhaustion clinging to my bones.
- Dressing slowly, my mind wandered back to last night, a flush creeping up my neck. Zephyr had been intense, and now... he was gone, as if it had never happened.
