- I stood in front of Emily’s cell, my hand resting on the cold door, my heart pounding in my chest. The last time I tried, I had crumbled under the weight of her hatred, unable to push through the wall of pain and anger that separated us. But the Alpha had given me the strength I needed to return. “You are stronger than this,”he had told me. ”Stronger than them.”
- I pushed the door open and stepped inside. Emily was bouncing her feet, her chains scratching along the stone floor. When she saw me, she stopped, her eyes narrowing in disgust.
- “You’re back,” she spat, her voice full of venom. “I thought you’d finally given up. Why don’t you just kill me, Amber?”
