Chapter 10

  • "It will be a regret for you to disobey," The Lead Hunter grinned and aimed the terrifying violet wand directly at my forehead.
  • The air was distorted and thick, vibrating with a dark force. With a sense of complete helplessness, I readied myself as the four subordinates close to me.
  • It was obvious they wanted to do to me what they had done to Bustane: unleash their full, agonizing power. I was unable to fully understand their motives at the time. All I knew was that panic had seized every fiber of my being, and I was prepared to use every ounce of my strengths to defend myself.
  • The Lead Hunter's finger began to click on a button to unleash their wicked plot. But before they could finish, they heard a loud battle cry and a rumble from the thick forest behind them.
  • Suddenly, a black robed figure burst out of the bushes, launching a flurry of punches. Their boots struck the first subordinate in the head, knocking them unconscious and sending them crashing to the ground.
  • I didn't need to be told twice. My own body was already writhing in readiness, predatory energy burning in my veins. The two remaining Hunters aimed their weapons at Bianca, and threatening blasts of energy went above them.
  • I jumped out from behind the trees without thinking, landing solidly on the back of a Hunter's head. I landed softly by climbing on top of her collapsing body, which collapsed like a lifeless doll.
  • Suddenly, Bianca moved like a ghost, dodging between glowing energy lines and dodging the other two monsters. She wiped out the Hunter's wand swinging by swiftly moving the handle of her knife. She then gave another enemy a forceful kick to the ribs, causing them to bleed profusely, and raised their jaw with her boots.
  • As their bodies fell to the soft ground, I prepared to attack the last warrior, the cunning leader of this group. But before I could move, Bianca suddenly stopped short, causing me to slow down.
  • She surprised me by raising her bare fingers in a composed way. Her shoulders were moving quickly as she lifted and lowered them, but her face was fixed on an odd serenity. That icy, deranged intensity had given way to something very different, a disciplined restraint that I was unable to sustain.
  • Lead Hunter even hesitated, as though weighing his options carefully. It was obvious that after such a crushing loss, none of us were supposed to give up or back down. But when Bianca took on that alert, prepared attitude, they didn't appear to be ready to become involved once more.
  • "Sit down," she called in a low, holding voice that somehow still reflected alpha power. "There's no need to fuss too much.
  • They wavered in my confused face. What was she doing? For all of them, after all the pain and life they had caused, she was giving them a chance? The opportunity to surrender like rational beings with civility? My nails bowed instinctively, crushing such kindness that I just hadn't considered yet.
  • As if sensing my growing anger, Bianca calmly glanced sideways to look at me. Her almost unnoticeable shaking of her head warned me that I would be pursuing more conflict. Then her terrifying blue eyes turned to our chin-strained enemies.
  • "This is your chance to live in peace," she said in a voice that no longer invited confrontation. "Our leader permits you and the safe conduct of your troops to withdraw from these lands immediately, and without further incident. But you must agree to our terms."
  • The bold statement left me breathless. Could she be talking about that mysterious group I've heard whispers about , the secret fighters committed to stopping the Hunters' terrible crimes? It would make sense, considering her skill in combat and her determination to protect.
  • The tense standoff continued for a long time. Bianca and the lead Hunter stared at each other, neither moving. I was ready to attack at any moment, but Bianca signaled me to stay back.
  • Finally, the Hunter raised a hand in an almost friendly gesture, though I could sense the threat behind it. "You think you can stop us, but you are wrong," the Hunter said in a growling voice. "We have awoken great powers that you cannot imagine."
  • Bianca remained calm and defiant. "We of the Kin fight against your corrupt plans," she stated firmly. "We will never surrender to you."
  • The Hunter laughed mockingly. "Your tiny group cannot stop what we've set in motion. We now control the very forces of creation itself, free from your goddess's laws. No one can stop our rise to glory ."
  • I could feel a deeply scary power growing around us, like a rising dread from unknown realms. The Hunter's weapon pulsed with disturbing energies that seemed to warp the very space around it.
  • "Surrender to our truth," the Hunter declared, "Or be unmade by the divine might we have unleashed."
  • Bianca braced herself, prepared for battle. "We will never surrender or be controlled. We'll resist you to our last breaths if we must."
  • Before the Hunter could respond, the ground near us suddenly exploded outwards. Twisted black vines shot out, thrashing around with a disgusting, powerful life. In no time, they wrapped around the Hunters, trapping them despite their efforts to break free.
  • Then a very loud, high-pitched noise ripped through the air as a huge thing smashed through the trees - it looked like a massive pile of mixed-up metal that had been combined with the powers of old trees.
  • And standing on top of the giant metal tree creature, with eyes glowing bright green with anger, was the extremely large wolf shape of Bustane. He let out an extremely loud roar, digging his back legs into the shaking ground as if using the power of the woods itself.
  • The huge metal tree creature moved, pointing its sharp metal arms towards the trapped Hunters. At that moment, I realized, Bustane had joined with the powerful spirit of these old lands. He would not be beaten by the Hunters' bad magic while protecting his home territory.
  • Looking at Bianca with determination, I knew I should be by my alpha’s Bustane's side in the fight against these bad invaders. Letting out my own challenging howl, I felt the wild power of the awakened forest flow through me, joining Bustane's mission.
  • The time for holding back was over. Now was the moment for open war against the unnatural forces invading our sacred home. With tooth and claw or old magic, we would force the Hunters out of our lands forever, leaving their evil plans permanently unfinished.
  • The fight was big and scary. The bad Hunters were trapped by the black vines that came from the ground. Then Bustane showed up, really huge as a wolf monster on top of a giant walking scrapheap machine!
  • He roared loudly, using the power of the forest itself against the bad Hunters. I knew Bustane would protect our land no matter what. Bianca and I decided to join the fight beside our alpha leader Bustane.
  • But then, Bustane's brother Nate came crashing in, also a massive black wolf! The two alpha wolf brothers started fighting each other viciously. They were both tremendously big and powerful, snarling and snapping huge jaws.
  • While they battled, the trapped Hunters broke free somehow. They shifted back into their freakish part-animal shapes, raising their glowing weapons that seemed to bend reality itself.
  • Some of the monster Hunters came towards Bianca and me. We knew we couldn't win against their twisted magic, not while Bustane and Nate kept fighting each other ruthlessly.
  • The two alphas knocked over Bustane's walking machine and just tore into each other on the ground. It was too much , i couldn't handle the chaos everywhere!
  • So I did the only thing I could think of. I threw back my head and let out a long, loud howl towards the sky, calling for help from anyone or anything that could save us.
  • And maybe it was just hopeful thinking, but it felt like the whole forest heard my cry and joined in responding. The air grew thick with new energy gathering. In the distance, more and more howls started joining mine, like a pack answering their alpha's call for aid.
  • More and more wolf howls rose up from the forest around us, answering my desperate call. It was like a massive pack was arriving to help Bustane against the bad Hunters.
  • The ground started shaking as huge shapes started emerging from the trees. Gigantic wolves, bigger than houses, stepped into the clearing. Their fur stood up and their teeth were bared, snarling at the weird monster Hunters.
  • The lead giant wolf looked right at me and seemed to nod. Then it opened its massive jaws and let out the loudest, most powerful roar I've ever heard. The sound shook the whole forest!
  • The other giant wolves roared and growled in accord. The Hunters dropped their glowing weapons and staggered due to the intense vibrations. Even Bustane and Nate put down their battle, gawking at the fresh, enormous arrivals.
  • Padding toward the fallen Hunters was one of the giant wolves. It stood over them, glaring down with burning amber eyes. The Hunters attempted to shoot energy blasts at it, but the magic was ineffective!
  • With one easy swing of its huge paw, the giant wolf knocked the Hunters away like they were tiny bugs. They went flying off in all directions, finally looking scared themselves.
  • The other massive wolves moved to guard Bustane, forming a defensive circle around him and Nate. No matter what the Hunters tried, the magical energy seemed useless against these ancient, powerful new protectors.
  • I looked at Bianca with my jaw hanging open in disbelief. She just grinned and said, "The forest has answered your call, Luna. The legendary protectors have arrived at last!"
  • So the tide had turned, with Bustane's forces joined by these incredible new giant wolf allies. Maybe now we had a chance to drive the evil Hunters away for good!
  • The battle turned against the bad Hunters now that we had the gaint wolf defenders on our side. The giant wolves were unaffected by any spell they attempted. They were completely unharmed by the Hunters!
  • Every time the Hunters grew nearer, the lead wolf would effortlessly swattem them away. The remaining large wolves clustered around Bustane and Nate, providing cover for the still-fighting alphas.
  • For the first time, the Hunters appeared truly terrified. These ancient guardian beasts were undefeated by their glow-in-the-dark weapons and reality-bending powers. The tables had turned completely!
  • It was unbelievable to me that these legendary, formidable guardians had indeed come to our aid. They responded to my plea for help against the evil Hunters, according to Bianca.
