Chapter 41

  • Raven's POV
  • Goddess, I hated how I melted into his arms every time. Right now, I craved more of him, but my shyness held me back. Admittedly, I felt a pang of jealousy towards Julia, but he was an old man—chances were slim that I was the only one to ever cross his path. Perhaps Julia wasn't even the sole recipient of his affections. And I knew all too well what mating season did to wolves. Part of me didn't want to leave, but duty called. As I shifted into a comfortable position in his arms, his lips brushed against my temple, sending shivers down my spine. I raised my eyes to meet his, and he smiled, saying, "Don't look at me like that, little mate. I might not be able to hold back."
  • I smiled shyly, whispering, "Maybe I don't want you to hold back."
