Chapter 23

• My whole day had been a whirlwind of back-to-back meetings and negotiations, leaving me thoroughly drained by the time my lunch break rolled around. Just as I was about to step out for a much-needed respite, Mirabelle came rushing into my office.
• "Rae, that gentleman from earlier is already here. I have to step out for a meeting with Mr. Draconis, so you'll be handling this one alone," she said apologetically.
• I resisted the urge to groan. The last thing I wanted right now was to deal with more business proposals, but it seemed I had no choice. "Alright, send him in," I replied, steeling myself as I settled back behind my desk.
