Chapter 33

• I woke up at three in the morning with my head throbbing and feeling heavy. Reyhan seemed to be fast asleep while hugging me like his favorite doll. Slowly, I removed his arm holding me; it was not so difficult because he was sleeping. I sat up immediately while adjusting my vision and neutralizing the slight dizziness in my head. I staggered off a bit. I’m a lousy class at alcohol, and I have no intention of trying it again. I stepped into Reyhan ’s mini-bar and looked for the medicine box; I remember seeing the medicine box there. I finally found it, grabbed the Advil, and ran to the kitchen. I swallowed the advice, then took a sip of water; I stood leaning against the closed refrigerator door. My stomach was hungry; after the dizziness whacking me subsided and cleared my vision again, I removed my body from the refrigerator and opened it. I decided to make a sandwich; there was a slice of meat here, and I had to bake it in Teflon for a while. I took out rye bread, celery, tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese. I thought about the party; Reyhan left me to talk to Atika before I got drunk. I wanted to know what they were discussing.
• The smell of grilled meat made my stomach scream even more for something to be filled; I was surprised and flinched when Reyhan wrapped his arm around my waist from behind.
• “You surprised me, honey,” I said, pressing my chest to calm my heart. Reyhan kissed behind my ear, and a tingling sensation ran through my body.
