My eyes went wide to see Zafrina’s body at the feet of the jerk; her eyes were closed. I didn’t know if the woman had fainted or died, so I turned around to confirm her figure. Joana emerged from behind the cubicle and looked at the two of us.
• “Stay where you are, Miss, or I’ll shoot her,” he threatened, which made my guts shrink. He pulled a gun from behind him and approached me slowly.
