Chapter 3 Lyra

  • Lyra's POV.
  • “Here you go” The bubbly lady at the counter chirped happily the next day as she handed me the cake in a box and I quickly quipped, “Thank you so much”
  • “You are welcome. Do call back any time” She said and I nod before scooping the box into my arms and began to head towards the exit.
  • I pushed the door open and stepped into the corridor only to run into another man at the entrance who seem to be in a hurry to get in as well.
  • I stumbled slightly before steadying myself back on the floor before looking up to face the man standing before me. If not for the fact that his eyes were glaring back at me, I would have think him to be very pretty but his face was contour with anger and I just couldn’t help but wonder what in the world was wrong with him.
  • “The fuck!” I heard him cursed under his breath as he continued to glare even more at me.
  • Okay, first of all he bumped into me and now he was acting as though I kicked his balls? He has got to be kidding me.
  • Before I could open my mouth to speak, he beat me right to it. “Are you fucking blind?, can’t you look at where you are headed?” He hissed bitterly at me and my eyes narrowed.
  • “what?” I croaked out in reply not sure if I heard him correctly. I mean, he didn’t just call me blind right?
  • “I asked if you are fucking blind” He expressed once again and gasped before taking a step towards him.
  • “Look Mr. I don’t care who you are but you don’t get to talk to me like that or call me names” I began and he tried to speak but I wasn’t done talking. “first of all, you bumped into me not the other way round so if anyone should be called blind and freaking arrogant than it’s you not me” I finished talking and kept staring at him in the face.
  • He looked like he has just being slapped on the face. What stupid ego he has
  • “What? You want me to apologize to you?” he asked after I continued to stare at him openly.
  • “Yes I do to be honest so go ahead and apologize but if not, you can shove it right where the sun doesn’t shine” I said firmly before shoving him out of the way.
  • I mean, who the heck does he think he is?
  • I could still feel his gaze burning through the back of my head even as I walked away and towards my van. I unlocked the door and carefully placed the box containing the cake into the back seat before turning around and settling into the driver’s seat with absolute ease.
  • Today is a good day and I’m not going to let some manner less dude ruins it for me.
  • Hell to the no. Not a chance even in hall.
  • **
  • Thirty minutes later, I had arrived at Ryder’s street with my box in hand as I stomped through the street, passing through other pedestrians. The thought of that man still lingers in my mind like a bad omen even as I hurried along. I just can’t believe the cockiness.
  • I would have apologized even though it was not my fault but the fact that he called me names really ticked me off. I mean, who the heck does he think he is. Just because he was all dressed in an expensive suit like some stuck up CEO doesn’t give him the right to talk down on me.
  • That man was the most arrogant person I have had the displeasure of meeting in my life!
  • I recalled how his face scrunched up in disgust when I asked him to apologize to me for his rudeness. He might have been handsome and all when I first caught sight of him, but it took just seconds to realize how extremely ugly he was on the inside. The most hideous personality ever.
  • I still fumed, trying to remove the thought of it all from my mind completely.
  • I sighed heavily after a while, plastering a soft smile on my face as I tried to focus on who I was going to meet.
  • Ryder had just returned from a show in California and I had not seen him for the past two weeks. The fact that I was surprising him with a birthday cake was like the icing on the main cake for me.
  • I’m also looking forward to finding comfort in his arms since I had lost my job. Job searching was a pain and I don’t even know when I will be lucky to secure another in such short notice.
  • I walked up the stairs to his apartment , using my spare key to enter the house. I slipped off my shoes silently as I dropped the cake on the kitchen island and start to looked around, hearing some music streaming in through the bedroom.
  • I smiled, knowing I was up to no good. He would be sleeping and I’m about to rake him up really good.
  • When I edged closer to the bedroom at the end of the hallway, I began to hear his voice.
  • “Oh,You taste so good,” I heard him say. My grin became wider as I reached the door, though a small part of me wondered why he was speaking too himself and what taste he was referring to so passionately.
  • “Fuck, you are doing it so good, baby” a female voice moaned and i stopped death in my track, my hand pausing on the doorknob. My heart stopping as well as I froze.
  • This couldn’t be. I thought as panic start to rise in my chest, my heart sank even more as I heard another moan from the bedroom. I edged closer now, my eyes prickling with unshed tears. I closed my eyes for a moment, and opened it once more, trying to control my trembling hands as I went ahead and turned the door slightly and pushed it open.
  • Two head snapped back to stare at my shock one as I stared back at the two naked people before me, one of them being my boyfriend. I exhaled a shaky breath as I finally let the river pooling in my eyes slide down my cheek.
  • “Lyra?” I heard Ryder croaked out as he jerk back on his feet and move to stand before me butt naked and I quickly moved out of his reach before he could touch me.
  • “Don't you even dare” I warned with venom in my tongue as I continued to glare at him.
  • “Please, it's not what you think, babe”
  • “It’s not what I think? For fuck sake Ryder. I just caught you eating another girl out and all you can tell me is not what I think?”
  • I wipe off my tears as I stare up at him in the eyes, not even glancing back at the red hair scurrying around for her clothes.
  • “Go ahead then, explain exactly what is going on since it’s not what I think” I said with a smile, tears still flooding my cheeks.
  • He opened his mouth to pew lies but I cut him off. “You know what? You save yourself the breath before it’s over between us. We are done” I told him quietly before I moved away silently, turning away, my face blank and heart empty.
  • I could hear him calling at me as i picked up my bag off the island and slipped on my shoes. I left the apartment, crying and barely holding it together. I let the door slam behind me, as I hurried towards my van and hurriedly turn on my ignition before stepping on the brake and sped away.
