• Alexander shook his head slowly, asserting, "He is not that foolish." In their world, there existed only a handful of men whose intellect matched that of the don, and even fewer whom Alexander found himself fearing as he did.
• This realization filled him with a bitter sense of disdain, for the don represented everything he was not and everything their father had always wished him to become. "You need to stop this right now, Valerie. Whatever actions you have undertaken can still be overlooked."
• Valerie's bottom lip trapped itself between her teeth, temporarily reflecting on her thoughts, and she visibly shuddered as she followed the dark path her mind led her down.
