Chapter 51

• Her head lolls to the side, and she sees Rex lying motionless. She wants to tell him she's sorry and that she should have listened to him, but her tongue feels heavy as lead.
• She is unceremoniously tossed into the van, her body crashing against the cold metal, and the last thing she hears is the thud of the door sliding shut.
• Her head slams into something solid as she descends, jarring her awake. She groans at the pain, but her voice is muffled, her lips dry and cracked against a foul-tasting piece of cloth.
