Chapter 40 Feeling Distressed
- Although it's clear that I don't feel good about what Lake has sent me, I must focus on my current problem. Even though I want to have him close and hit him or yell at him because he supposedly saved me from too much pain, I focus on the present because he is part of my past.
- "Where are my brothers?" I ask, looking at my mother.
- My mother looks at me dazed because she probably didn't expect me to ask about my brothers. But it seems to relieve her to hear that I have another topic of conversation that helps me ignore my reality a little.
