Chapter 6 Deathly Cramps
- GINA'S P.O.V
- My jaw dropped at the word ‘husband’
- Was he…?
- “I'm Nathan” he paused to study my facial expression “Nathan North”
- I swallowed hard and met his blue eyes. He was Nathan. He was the man I was supposed to marry.
- “I'm Gina Thornton” I didn't know why I said that, he clearly already knew who I was.
- “Shall we?” he asked, stretching his hand towards me. It suddenly felt so real. This was happening. We were going on our first date.
- I turned back to look at William who sat at his desk, pretending he couldn't see us.
- I hesitated a little, hoping he'd toss the documents aside, stand up and tell Nathan to get out because he was my mate and he couldn't watch this happen, but it was clear.
- There was only one person who cared that we were mates and that person was.
- Me.
- “Yeah. Let's go” I nodded and joined my hands with his.
- Livy purred as our hands touched and that confused the hell out of me. My wolf was only supposed to react to my mate but since the day I met Nathan even before knowing who he was, Livy had a reaction to him.
- I followed as he led me out of the office and into his car.
- “I must say, when my mother informed me of this arrangement I was aghast but meeting you I am quite thrilled” he said slowly.
- I took note of how exquisite and luxurious his car was. How could someone like him be thrilled by me?
- “You are?”
- He nodded seriously.
- “I think that we'll make a good match”
- **************
- Nathan pulled out a chair for me as we got to our table. The waiter had called him Alpha even if he was not the alpha of our pack.
- “Thank you” I quipped and took a seat.
- I watched as he pulled his own seat out and sat down. It was elegant. I hadn't really let myself look at him because of the shock of everything but now sitting in this quiet restaurant I could finally let myself revel in his looks. The stubble that crossed across his chin was perfect. The way his short blonde way was combed and sat on his head suited him impeccably. Personally I had never met a blonde man who looked so powerful.
- At my college and high school all the blonde guys always had a friendly aura about them.
- A waiter came up to us.
- “Can I take your order, Alpha?”
- “What would you like?” He directed the question to me.
- I picked up the menu and my eyes skimmed over it. I was about to call out my order when I felt a bump in my stomach.
- “Ouch” I winced and held my stomach.
- “Are you okay?” Nathan’s gaze darted towards me in panic.
- “Yes” I nodded and focused my attention to the waiter.
- “I'll have the… ouch” I cried out again as my stomach twisted itself. I clutched my lower abdomen and tried to act okay but I couldn't. It felt like fire had been released in my guts.
- My head began to spin.
- “Give us a second” Nathan said to the waiter, who nodded and walked away.
- “Gina, what's wrong?”
- “Menstrual cramps” was the first thing I could come up with. I knew my pain was far from the pain that came with my monthly cycle.
- I felt a kick again this time it was worse, the pain doubled and intensified. I found it hard to breathe. What was happening to me?
- “Should we leave?” His kind eyes softened at the pure look of pain plastered on mine.
- I hated that I was ruining the date but I had no choice. I was in so much pain. I couldn't think of food.
- He stood up and walked over to me, stretching his hand for me to have support.
- I clung to his sturdy hand like a lifeline, I was going to lose my balance if I didn't do so.
- We made it to his car right on time. As my body relaxed in his car seat. The pain intensified. It felt like a war had broken out between my intestines and the walls of my stomach. I felt all the strength in me seep out.
- Livy cried within me. The pain was too much for my wolf to bear. Tears gathered in my eyes. My vision was ruined but u could feel Nathan's gaze on me.
- “Is it always this bad?” He questioned as he put the car in gear.
- “No” my voice came out in a low whisper. I was a wolf so I wasn't accustomed to bad menstrual cramps. My wolf was strong enough to shield me from that particular pain.
- This pain that made me want to cry my heart out was not menstrual cramps. From the moment it began to this moment, I knew what it was. I wanted to deny it and ignore it but the truth was clear.
- My stomach was in shambles because my mate was having sex with another woman.
- The realization hit me with a tenacity that hurt more than the pain itself. I began to feel lightheaded.
- “Gina... Gina” was the last thing I heard before I lost consciousness.
- **********
- My eyes came open again and a groan left my lips. My vision was blurry and my whole body ached.
- Williams.
- He had done this to me.
- I pulled the blanket over my body and rolled over on the bed.
- Wait…
- This wasn't my bed.
- This wasn't my room..
- Where was I?
- I clutched my throbbing stomach and sat up straight.
- Where was my phone?
- The last thing I remembered was getting into Nathan's car.
- The door swung open, and Nathan strode in, his suit pants clinging to his hips, shirt hanging open, buttons undone.
- "You're up," he said, his voice low, as he crossed the room, a cup extended in his hand.
- "Drink this." He instructed.
- I normally did not like being told what to do but something about his tone left me with no room for questioning.
- I collected the cup and emptied the contents into my mouth. It had a bitter taste.
- “What's it for?”
- He let out a little laugh that irked me and enthralled me at the same time.
- “You're supposed to ask before drinking it” he collected the empty cup from my hand and placed it on the dresser.
- “It's not poison right?”
- “It's for the cramps” He explained.
- I nodded and looked around the room. It didn't look like it belonged to anyone. It looked like a hotel room.
- “Where are we?”
- “You’re at my house. This is the guest room”
- I slid out of the bed and stood on my feet. I felt a little dizzy but it wasn't anything I couldn't manage. I noticed Nathan's eyes were watching me, as if he was worried I'd pass out again.
- “I'm really sorry about last night. I hate that I ruined the date after making you wait the day before”
- “It wasn't your fault. Besides we can always have another date”
- “Shit!” I cussed as I looked at the clock.
- “I’m supposed to be at work” I grabbed my bag from the table in a frenzy.
- “You're not well. Take a sick leave”
- “I can't” I responded quickly “Thank you for everything. I have to go” I made to walk past him but he grabbed my hand stopping me in my tracks. I felt the jolts again.
- “Are you going to the office like that?”
- I couldn't.
- “I'll go home first and change”
- “How will you get home?”
- I didn't even know where I was, but surely I could find my way right?
- “A bus?”
- “You're cute. But I can't have my fiance riding the bus”
