Chapter 9
- I shifted in bed, turning onto my side, trying to relax. I took deep, steady breaths-in through my nose, out through my mouth-hoping to ease the tension in my muscles. Once... twice... Then, a scent drifted toward me. Citruses. I had no idea where it came from, but it had a calming effect on me.
- A strong hand slid along my side, slipping under my arm and resting on my stomach. Fingers splayed across the thin fabric of my nightgown, a sensual touch that sent a shiver through me. It should've scared me. There was a stranger in my bed, but instead of fear, I felt an inexplicable calm.

His body shifted, lips brushing against the crook of my neck, sending electric waves through my skin.
