• I wrapped Gianna in her cloak, gently lifting her into my arms, and started back toward the castle.
• This wasn’t supposed to happen. I’d made a decision, gone as far as instructing Maria to set up separate chambers for Gianna, all so I’d have a reason to keep my distance. Yet, the moment I found that lake, every plan I’d carefully constructed crumbled. Without even thinking, I’d written that message, inviting her to join me there, feeling a pull I couldn’t ignore. Bringing her there was reckless, as was tearing her dress and giving in to those cravings. Now, I was compounding my foolishness by carrying her straight to my bedroom, each step revealing the fragility of my resolve. My wolf encouraged every moment, even pushing me to mark her as mine here and now. But the worst part? I wanted it too.
