Chapter 55

  • Even with my wolf lying dormant, a searing rage simmered within me. My mouth filled with the bitter taste of fury—not just jealousy but something deeper, sharper. I was this close to marching down the corridor and pounding on Stefano’s door until he opened it, imagining myself storming in, grabbing Ornella by her perfect hair, and throwing her out. And once I’d dealt with her, I’d turn my wrath on him. Goddess, I was beyond ready to kick him where it hurt... over and over.
  • A low growl escaped my throat as I glared at Stefano's door. He'd told me to trust him, but right now, he was pushing every one of my limits. I forced myself to take slow, deep breaths, trying to steady my racing heart. Rage had never been a wise guide, and though anger flared hot and bright inside me, my mind clung to enough clarity to hold back… for now.
  • Time crept by—a minute, maybe two—but I didn’t see Ornella leave. My patience dwindled, slipping away as all rational excuses to stay put dissolved. With a frustrated sigh, I decided to try listening to their conversation before throwing that door wide open.
