• By the time Alpha Kieran returned, I had already fallen asleep while waiting for him. He didn’t wake me, but since I wasn’t a deep sleeper, I stirred awake just as he approached the bed.
• He tried to calm me and assure me that everything was in control and I felt some kind of warmth that usually settled my nerves, but nothing could ease the tension running through me now.
