• Amelia hesitates, looking down at her hands. “I don’t know,” she admits. “If I go home, I have to work because I have nowhere else to stay. If I try to go to college, Mom won’t let me live there, and I don’t have the money to pay for a place on my own. So I have to keep working, save up, and maybe in a year or two, I can actually go back.”
