• Sometime later, deep into the night, a series of knocks filtered into my ears from the door. I barely moved from where I sat, legs sprawled and head tipped back against the wall. If it was room service, they would be fucking gone the next moment. But a moment later, they were not fucking going anywhere. The knocks turned incessant, and the landline telephone was starting to blow up. My phone was probably cracked somewhere on the dark floor, cracked under a piece of furniture… but I could hear the vibrations of it ringing silently from somewhere around.
